Malibu: "The Least Expensive Riviera in the World"

I was in Los Angeles earlier this year and had dinner with Shen. We sat and spoke for hours about everything and nothing. It's so rare to have friends in your life that you can do that with. He is someone that truly makes me want to be a better person. Shen is a great husband, father, mentor, and friend and I truly feel blessed to have him in my life. As I mentioned in the podcast, his father was a Buddhist monk and when he was 18 he decided to follow that path himself which is the reason he is so spiritual, yet he balances his life with living in Malibu, playing in a band and having fun living his life. I would like to mention that we did this interview before the global pandemic of COVID-19 which is why there is no reference to it which may seem odd when we speak of tragedies such as the Malibu fires and the lessons learned. I wanted to summarize the top 10 lessons we discussed in this podcast: 1) "High tides raise all ships" 2) "Don't focus on worry, focus on what we want to accomplish" 3) "Challenge is simply the doorway for the next great opportunity" 4) "No Mud, No Lotus" 5) "What would your life be like if you didn't attach to your story?" 6) "Put service first and the money will follow" 7) "There is no separation between our internal world and our external world" 8) "If you focus 5 feet beyond the finish line, you won't slow down" 9) "Inspiration is all around us, we just need to find it" 10) "When you start from gratitude, there's no space for fear and anxiety" It was such fun doing this episode with such a great friend. Thank you, Shen, for being who you are! Michael Valdes
